Food From Home: A tribute to my mother and her fried spring rolls

Today, my mama would’ve turned 68 if she was still alive. In honor of her birthday, I’m sharing this video. The backstory: I was contacted by this talented filmmaker, Andrew Gooi, earlier this year. Formerly a civil engineer, Andrew recently decided to pursue his passion for film and food full-time. Food Talkies is his current project, and “Food From Home” is a new mini-docu film collection that captures personal food stories.Andrew flew to my hometown of Houston in July and shot two short films with me: it was a one-man crew, two cameras, one or two LED lights. He flew back home that evening after we filmed, and within the week, he’d finished editing and producing this first of two episodes.I really like how it turned out, and even though I can’t see it, the music and parts of my interview he spliced in were so fitting for the story he wanted to convey. (The hubs, who can see, said the cinematography is very nice.)Happy watching, and please share if you enjoy it!
